Charles Rodman Campbell
Charles Rodman Campbell (October 21, 1954 – May 27, 1994)〔http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19940526&slug=1912565〕〔http://m.kitsapsun.com/news/1994/May/08/charles-campbell-death-rows-poster-child-feared/〕 was a convicted murderer who was executed in 1994 by the state of Washington.
==Early life==
Campbell was born in Hawaii in 1954, but his parents soon moved to Washington. They lived in Edmonds, WA, behind his grandparents' house. He had two sisters, one of whom had birth defects that made her unable to walk and required numerous surgeries. Campbell's father was a Marine Corps veteran and a truck driver and his mother a sales clerk at a department store. His father was a violent alcoholic who routinely beat his children. Often ridiculed by schoolmates for his sister's disability and his Hawaiian origins, Campbell was large for his age and developed a bad temper early on. Because of the elder Campbell's drunkenness and frequent domestic violence, the children spent much of their childhood in their grandparents' care. Frequently fighting and running away, Campbell began to get in trouble with the law as a teenager. He dropped out of high school and married a 22-year old woman, but they got divorced in six months. She gave birth to a daughter soon afterwards and Campbell was ordered to pay child support, but a judge soon revoked his visitation rights after ruling that he'd been abusive and neglectful to his child and former wife. Prison psychologists found that Campbell seemed to admire his father, but detested his mother and felt that she didn't understand him and punished him unjustly. School faculty and former girlfriends attested that he could be sociable and charming when he wanted to.
